STAGES

In In the distance, Troy Magnus Myhr uses his own experiences to investigate one of the world’s strongest taboos – the feminine male.

The production is inspired by classic Greek tragedy and explores the conflict between femininity and masculinity which, in the twenty-first century, still determines the way people see each other. Magnus Myhr shows how the fight unfolds within a single body. But it doesn’t stop there. The work on this piece was an investigation that brought Magnus Myhr beyond the gender perspective to something perhaps even more universal.

Magnus Myhr’s work with dance and theatre often originates in personal experience. Active since 2007, his themes include youth, gender and innate human vanity. He received the prestigious Trondheim Prize in 2014 for the best stage production of the year for his piece I sat on a rock and looked at the ocean.
