Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival
This August, Gothenburg and Western Sweden will once again be filled with performing arts from around the world. Prepare for ten days of dance, circus, performance, and theatre from every corner of the globe. This year’s programme moves between the spectacular and the intimate, the playful and the existential. It is accessible and engaging while embracing depth, complexity, and challenge. Discover a wordless love story about longing and hope; raw and poetic circus exploring women’s strength and solidarity; cinematic acrobatics in which bodies move through space and time; and theatrical rituals that examine identity, faith, and belonging. The programme also features a reimagined classical tragedy, where love, power, and duty are pushed to their limits. Intense dance experiences driven by rhythm and collective energy meet quieter stories of resistance, survival, and the right to exist. Encounter works that reflect the world we live in and deepen our understanding of it. Experiences that stay with you long after the performance ends. During the festival, we will also present an extensive outdoor programme in central Gothenburg and across the Västra Götaland region. This programme will be announced on 16 June. See you from 21–30 August!
