About
The Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival is an international performing arts festival taking place for ten days in August, in the great city of Gothenburg with surroundings. The festival was founded in 1994 and has ever since invited international artists to share their stories with diverse audiences; stories from all around the world; stories that enhance reality. Stories that reflect on the world as it is today, right here and now.
Next festival will take place in 2026.
Main programme
The performances for the festival are always invited to the festival by the artistic team, which currently includes Martin Hansson, Sarah Melin and Pernilla Appelqvist. The curatorial choices are based on the festival’s strategy and values, as well as the careful assessment of the artistic, thematic, technical and logistic aspects of the performances. Instead of an open call, the programming of the festival is an ongoing process led by the artistic team. If you are interested in proposing a production for the Main Programme, please provide us with sufficient information about your company and the production by e-mail: info@gdtf.se. If the artistic team is interested in your performance and wants to know more, they will contact you.
Please note, that due to the numerous artistic proposals, we are unable to respond to every inquire. Thank you for your understanding.
