Next Move

Next Move is a platform for street dancers in the Västra Götaland region who want to take the step into the performing arts. Through production residencies, development support, and workshops, we create opportunities for dancers and choreographers to realize their ideas and reach a broader audience.

Next Move was launched in 2021 to provide street dancers in Västra Götaland with a pathway into the performing arts. We identified a need for support, resources, and contexts where dancers could grow and create performances. Through our production residency, one group per year is given the opportunity to create a full-length performance, ready for touring.

In addition, we offer development residencies for those wishing to explore their ideas, along with a comprehensive workshop program aimed at empowering and inspiring street dancers in the region. In 2024, we held 21 workshops in nine locations and collaborated with the French company Compagnie Dyptik.

Through collaboration with more partners, Next Move continues to grow. In 2024, the performance Väntrummet toured six locations in Västra Götaland. Next tour will expand further in 2025. Our goal is to provide street dancers with new opportunities and create a vibrant scene for street dance as a performing art in the Västra Götaland region.

Open Call: Workshop with Compagnie Dyptik

From June 2–7, 2025, Next Move, in collaboration with Compagnie Dyptik, invites dancers to take part in an intensive six-day workshop. This unique opportunity allows dancers to work closely with the company’s two choreographers. The week concludes with a public showing of the piece created during the workshop – a concept Dyptik has successfully used in previous projects.

The Dyptik team will include two choreographers, two dancers, two musicians, and a technician, creating a dynamic and inspiring creative process.

About Compagnie Dyptik
Dyptik is a French dance company known for its acclaimed works for both stage and outdoor performances. They performed Dans L’Engrenage at Stora Teatern in 2019 and returned in 2021 with D-Construct, an outdoor production that toured the region during the Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival. The festival is also co-producer of their latest piece, Le Grand Bal, which will be performed at Stora Teatern on December 2, 2025. In 2023, Dyptik carried out a workshop tour across the region.

Workshop Structure
On the first day, 15 dancers will work with the company. Dyptik will then select six dancers to continue throughout the week. The workshop offers a unique opportunity for artistic development, where participants can explore new choreographic processes and challenge themselves as dancers.

Fee: SEK 1,100 per day for all participating dancers.
Location: 3rd floor, Sockerbruket, Gothenburg. The final showing will also be held at this venue.
